Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to book a repair. Here is what we have done, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us if something gets in your way.

What we have built in

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline that we have deliberately not removed.
  • Body text meets or exceeds WCAG 2.2 AA contrast against its background, and our yellow is only ever used with dark text on top — never white.
  • Text resizes to 200% without content being cut off, and the layout reflows to a single column rather than requiring horizontal scrolling.
  • Form fields have real labels, errors are announced to screen readers, and error messages say what to do rather than just “invalid”.
  • The booking wizard is a series of ordinary buttons and inputs, not a drag-and-drop interface, and its progress is announced as you move through it.
  • Animation is subtle, and everything stops if your device has “reduce motion” switched on.
  • Nothing important is conveyed by colour alone — status is always also words.
  • There is a “skip to main content” link at the top of every page.

What we know is not perfect

Being honest about the gaps is more useful than claiming full compliance:

  • Product photography is not yet in place, so product tiles currently show the item name rather than an image. Once photos are added, every one will need a proper alt description.
  • The price list is a large table. It is navigable, but with several hundred rows it is slow going with a screen reader — the filters at the top are the quickest route, and calling us is quicker still.
  • We have tested with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS and with keyboard-only navigation. We have not yet completed a full audit with JAWS or NVDA.

The shop itself

232 High Street, Walthamstow, London E17 7JH. The shop is at street level on the High Street. Please add here: whether there is a step at the entrance, the door width, whether there is space to turn a wheelchair inside, and whether there is a hearing loop. This is one of the first things a disabled customer checks, and guessing would be worse than leaving it blank.

If getting to the shop is difficult because of a disability, tell us — we will do what we reasonably can, including arranging collection or a postal repair at no extra cost to you.

Tell us if something blocks you

Email [email protected] or call . Describe what you were trying to do and what stopped you. We will reply within five working days and, where we can fix it quickly, we will.

If you would rather book a repair by phone, WhatsApp or in person than use this website, that is completely fine and always will be.

Standards

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. We are also mindful of our duty to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, which applies to the shop as much as to the website.
