Repair terms and conditions
These are the terms you accept when you book a repair with us. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable — if anything here is unclear, ask us before you hand the device over.
Last reviewed:
1. Who you are contracting with
MANGOFONE LIMITED, 232 High Street, Walthamstow, London E17 7JH. Contact or info@mangofonerepair.co.uk.
2. Booking is free and non-binding
Booking a slot online costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We take no payment and no card details on this website. You can change or cancel a booking at any time, for any reason, without charge — a quick call or WhatsApp message is all we ask so we can offer the slot to someone else.
We hold your slot for 15 minutes past the appointment time. After that we may offer it to a walk-in customer, though we will always try to fit you in when you arrive.
3. Prices are estimates until we have seen the device
The prices on this website are our standard charges for that repair on that model, including VAT and fitting. They are an invitation to treat, not a binding quote, because we cannot know what is actually wrong until we open the device. In particular:
- We give you a firm price after a free diagnostic and we will not begin work until you have approved it.
- If we find a second fault, we stop and contact you rather than adding it to the bill.
- If the job turns out simpler than expected, you pay the lower amount, not the amount first quoted.
- Water damage, board-level faults and data recovery are always quoted after inspection, and inspection of these carries a fee we will tell you about before we start.
4. Parts
We fit genuine, genuine-pull, OEM-grade OLED or Incell parts depending on the device, availability and your budget. We will always tell you which grade we are fitting and what practical difference it makes before you agree. Fitting a non-manufacturer part may cause your device to display a “non-genuine part” notice, and may affect any remaining manufacturer warranty — we will flag this for your specific model.
Replaced parts become our property and are recycled unless you ask for them back at the time of booking.
5. Your data, and backing up
Please back up your device before any repair. This is genuinely important. Screen, battery, port and camera repairs do not normally involve touching your data, and in practice data loss is rare. But no repair is entirely without risk, and software repairs, board-level work and water-damage recovery carry a real and material risk of data loss — we will say so explicitly before starting those.
We cannot accept responsibility for loss of data, apps or settings. We will take reasonable care, and where we can see data is at risk we will tell you before proceeding. How we handle any data we do see is set out in our privacy notice.
6. Timescales
Most phone screen and battery repairs are completed in 30–60 minutes. Tablets, laptops and back-glass work usually take several hours. Board-level and water-damage work typically takes one to three working days, and longer if a part has to be ordered. Any time we give you is our honest estimate and not a guarantee — we would rather take an extra hour than hand back a device we have not properly tested.
7. Home visits
For home visits you choose a two-hour arrival window. The technician will contact you when they set off. Please make sure someone aged 18 or over is present, and that there is a table and a plug socket available.
A call-out fee applies outside E17. It is shown in your booking summary before you confirm, it is charged once per visit rather than per repair, and nothing is added afterwards. If we arrive and nobody is home, or the device is not the one described, we may charge the call-out fee to cover the journey.
Your cancellation rights: because a home visit is a service arranged at a distance, you have 14 days from booking to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. If you ask us to carry out the repair within that 14-day period and we complete it, you lose the right to cancel that service — but you keep every other right described below. In practice we do not charge for cancellation at all.
8. Devices posted to us
If you post a device in, please use a tracked and insured service and include a note with your booking reference and phone number. We cannot be responsible for a device that does not reach us. Remove the SIM and any memory card, and back up first. We confirm receipt the same working day.
9. Payment
Payment is due when the repair is complete and you are satisfied with it, or on collection. We accept cash, debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We do not take payment through this website and we will never phone or email you to ask for card details.
10. If we cannot fix it
Our standard repairs are no-fix-no-fee: if we cannot complete the repair, you do not pay for the attempt. This does not apply to the inspection fee for water damage, board-level faults and data recovery, where the diagnostic work itself is the service you are paying for — and we will always tell you that fee before we begin.
We will return the device in the condition it arrived in as far as that is possible. Some repairs cannot be fully reversed, and where that is the case we will explain it before starting.
11. Devices we cannot work on
We will not remove iCloud Activation Lock or Google FRP protection from a device you cannot prove you own, and we will not work on any device we have reasonable grounds to believe is stolen. We may report such a device to the police. If it genuinely is yours, bring proof of purchase and we will help you through the manufacturer’s official recovery route.
12. Unclaimed devices
Please collect your device promptly. We will contact you when it is ready, and again after 30 days, 60 days and 90 days using the details you gave us. If a device remains uncollected 90 days after we have told you it is ready, and we have made reasonable attempts to reach you, we may sell or dispose of it to recover the unpaid repair cost and reasonable storage costs, accounting to you for any surplus. We would much rather just give it back to you.
13. Our guarantee, and your statutory rights
Repairs carry a 3-month guarantee and batteries carry six months, as set out in our warranty page.
Nothing in these terms removes or reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under that Act, a service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and any goods supplied must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you are entitled to have the work put right or to a price reduction. Those rights last far longer than our guarantee and we do not ask you to waive them.
14. Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage we cause by failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss of data (see section 5), for faults that existed before the repair and were unrelated to it, or for indirect losses such as lost earnings.
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your statutory rights as a consumer.
15. Complaints
Please tell us. Email info@mangofonerepair.co.uk, call the shop, or ask for the manager at the counter. We aim to acknowledge within two working days and resolve within fourteen. If you remain unhappy you can contact Trading Standards via Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133, or use an alternative dispute resolution provider.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
